Meet the Team

Dr. Stephen Beed is an ICU physician at the Halifax Infirmary and Professor of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at the Dalhousie School of Medicine. During his extensive career, Dr. Beed has been the recipient of a variety of teaching awards through multiple institutions, including Harvard. He is a designated “founder” of critical care medicine in Canada, was “program director of the year” at Dalhousie University, “specialist mentor of the year for Atlantic Canada” from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and received the distinguished service award from Doctors NS. His career as a clinician-educator has evolved with improved care at the bedside as his primary motivation. The development of a better way to care for critically ill COVID patients was the inspiration for the PronatorPlus.
